Shawn Chidiac (@myparents_are_divorced on Instagram) is a Lebanese comedian, content creator and keynote speaker. Over 1.1 million people follow him across social media, with some of his most viral videos being watched as many as 177 million times.
He was born in Canada and raised in Dubai by a single mother, growing up between cultures and collecting the voices around him. In high school he taught history lessons in a German accent. Nobody asked him to. After university he worked in marketing and strategy, then left it to make people laugh full time.
He writes and performs everything himself. Every video starts as a storyboard, built from real conversations he overhears and saves in an ever-growing idea bank. Each character gets refined until the accent, the walk and the logic are exactly right. The comedy pokes at cultural stereotypes without ever punching down, which is exactly why it travels so well between cultures.
Today he tours his live show Laughing in Translation around the world, works with brands from Porsche to McDonald’s, and gives keynotes on cultural intelligence, emotional intelligence and human behaviour, just a bit of proof that funny travels further than a slide deck.
